Professional Background

I qualified as general surgeon from the University of Leuven (Belgium, 2007) and subsequently as paediatric surgeon from the University of Pretoria (2011). I continued my interest and professional development in “state of the art” minimally invasive general pediatric-, neonatal-, liver transplant-, anorectal malformation- and oncological surgery at Chelsea and Westminister Hospital (London, United Kingdom), Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children (London, United Kingdom), Leuven University Hospital (Leuven, Belgium) and St. Luc University Hospital (Brussels, Belgium) between 2011 and 2016.

I consider myself fortunate to work in close collaboration with excellent paediatricians in our province. I look forward to the opportunity and challenge to contribute to the development of holistic child health at local and national level and to continue developing myself as a person, surgeon, researcher, inspiring colleague and community member.
